Tap to reveal, right-click to flag a mine.
On the phone, switch on π© Flag mode to place flags by tapping. First tap is always safe.
How to play Minesweeper
Somewhere under this field lie hidden mines. Reveal a square and it shows a number: how many mines touch that square, counting all eight neighbours. Use those numbers to deduce where the mines are, plant a π© flag on each one, and reveal every safe square to win. Reveal a mine instead andβ¦ well, you'll hear it.
Your first tap is always safe β the mines are placed only after it, never on or next to your starting square, so every game opens with a fair foothold. Revealing a zero automatically opens its whole neighbourhood. Three sizes are offered: Easy (9Γ9, 10 mines), Medium (12Γ12, 24) and Hard (16Γ16, 44), with a timer if you like racing yourself.
Reading the numbers like a pro
- If a number already touches exactly that many flags, every other neighbour is safe to open.
- If a number's count of unrevealed neighbours equals the number itself, they are all mines β flag them.
- The classic 1-2-1 pattern along a wall means the mines sit under the 1s; a 1-2-2-1 puts them under the 2s.
- Guessing is a last resort: open ground far from numbers first, and save coin-flip squares for when nothing else remains.
